Applications

ALIZE-LCPC is the professional software for the mechanical analysis and design of pavement structures. First-line of ALIZE-LCPC is to integrate a rational method. It means that we do not calculate the structure a given service life but rather estimate the evolution over time in terms of cumulative probability of failure.
This design method is used in France for many years and is widely spread in Africa, Spain or eastern European countries.
As ALIZE-LCPC integrates a rich database of materials (rubber, treated, concrete…), it allows the analysis of a wide range of projects.

Features

Mecanical analysis

ALIZE-LCPC software integrates the Burmister’s algorithm. Thus ALIZE-LCPC computes any stress or strain at every point or depth of the multi-layered structure.
Features:

  • Definition of a multi-layered structure
  • Definition of the layers interface behaviour (bond, slip or semi-slip)
  • Definition of the material inside the layers from the integrated database or from user’s properties.
  • Definition of loads (axles or not) complex or not.

French administration method

ALIZE-LCPC initial goal was to spread the French administration method and standards for pavement structures design. Thus it integrates all the coefficients for the rational method: risk, aggressiveness, standardized materials, damage laws and the reference load (13t / axle)
A dedicated calculator guides the user for the definition of admissible values for the design of standard pavement structures.

Frost-thaw analysis

ALIZE-LCPC integrates an option for the frost-thaw analysis of the structure.
The thermal propagation is calculated in the pavement structure. Parameters for evaluation of the frost sensibility of the subgrade layers are proposed.
Thus the pavement engineer can evaluate the sustainability of the structure during winter season. A good design of the pavement structure could avoid the traffic interruption.

Regional parameters

ALIZE-LCPC is designed for an easy parametric study on several parameters.
Thus any user can edit:

  • The reference temperature,
  • The materials library,
  • The design parameters (aggressiveness, risk…).
    • These options allow any user to adapt the software to its local context, for example in regions such as Sub-Saharan Africa and the Maghreb.

Because roads are getting old and heavily used, their structure may not support the actual traffic. The initial materials are cracked or overworked. In this scope of expertise, ALIZE-LCPC software helps the pavement engineer to estimate the behaviour and to propose reinforcements.
Hence, ALIZE-LCPC integrates a back-calculation option for the analysis of deflexion bassins measured with Falling Weight Deflectometer, Benkelman’s beam or other deflexion measurement devices.
The damage analysis is also possible with ALIZE-LCPC. Thus the engineer can evaluate the theoretical degradation evaluation of the road.

Special Loads

ALIZE-LCPC integrates the tools for structural design of heavy duty pavement for ports and other industries.
User can there define specific pavement loadings (geometry, intensity…) like reach stackers, straddle carriers and others like.
Analysis is conducted so that all stresses and strains are calculated in the pavement structure subjected to this user-defined loading. Damage analysis is also possible for evaluation of the design thicknesses.

Back-calculation of deflection basin

ALIZE-LCPC includes a procedure to edit the deflection basin measured with a Lacroix-type Deflectograph or Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) and then calculate reverse modules for each layer of the analysed structure.
This helps the road engineer for the evaluation of the mechanical behaviour of the existing pavement and for the projection of its strengthening.
This analysis can be conducted on several deflection basins raised along the analysed road section. The designer can thus identify the most unfavourable profiles and diagnose globally the condition of this road segment.

The software ALIZE-LCPC is the perfect tool for the design and analysis of harbour and logistic platforms. Any type of carriage machine (reachstackers) or lorries can be generated with accurate print and weights. Their mechanical influence on the pavement structure is analysed in damage (Miner’s law). Thus pavement structures engineer or harbour facilities manager can build the pavement fitted for the sustainable and long term use of the facility.
